Greetings from the President of the Louisville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. The Louisville Alumnae Chapter (LAC) was chartered in Louisville, Kentucky on May 14, 1934, and has grown to be the largest chapter in the state of Kentucky. LAC is committed to engaging the Louisville community by developing and executing meaningful outreach programs centered on Delta's Five Programmatic Thrusts including Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement.
Delta Sigma Theta was founded in 1913 on Christian principles with a focus on Scholarship, Service and Sisterhood. LAC has been committed to providing young people with scholarships every year raising funds through some of our highly supported annual events such as, “The Delta Day at the Races" at Churchill Downs and also our “Jazz Brunch."
We have won awards on the Regional Level in the areas of Educational Development and Social Action We motivate and encourage young people thorough our educational programs such as Delta Academy, Jabberwock and EMBODI (Empowering Males to Build Opportunities for Developing Independence).
We have participated in Voter Registration, a Prison Fellowship Angel Tree Ministry and Delta Days at the State Capital under our Social Action thrust. We have also been very involved with “Relay for Life" and Healthy Living initiatives through our Physical and Mental Health programmatic thrust.
We have dedicated more than 87 years of service to the Louisville Community with our commitment to programming and we hope to continue to serve the City of Louisville for many more years to come.
